Lab Technician (Data Storage)

Location: Atlanta, GA

Department: Engineering

Type: Full Time

Min. Experience: Entry Level

Wanted: Lab Technician with a passion for technology

We’re looking for a Lab Technician (Data Storage) to support the everyday IT needs surrounding the desktop and to help out in the lab with our storage engineering team. This is an entry level position but you will have the opportunity to learn and play with leading hardware from EMC, NetApp, Brocade and CISCO.

You will be assisting with quality testing, troubleshooting and configuring equipment on a daily basis before it’s put on the shelf or sent out to our customers. Over time we expect the position to grow, and it’s a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to be mentored.

In this position, you will train to become the internal IT “go-to” person.

What we’re looking for in you

While we’re looking for an entry level candidate, we also want someone who is a quick learner and a very curious person. A computer science background would be excellent. Knowledge of information technology (IT), data storage, backup software, networking would be great. One to two years’ experience in an IT discipline or associate’s degree in information technology discipline, even better.

Most important for this role are your analytical skills and technical aptitude, because we will train the right person to extend your skills to make sure you succeed.

Your key responsibilities

You will effectively mirror the storage engineer and become capable in all his or her duties—a back-up of sorts to this person, responsible for all things that come into and leave the lab, as well as the uptime for all our systems so our company stays running efficiently throughout the day.

Some of the duties you can expect during day-to-day operations include:

  • Quality test, diagnose, and configure data storage equipment
  • Assists with user desktop support
  • Utilize scripted tools to document testing results
  • Develop storage knowledge to offer level one support to customers on basic tasks
  • Assist in overall logistics process when necessary

Just so you know…there will be challenges that come with this role

In our environment things move quickly. You need to be reliable, resourceful, and be comfortable taking ownership of problems as they arise. You will need to come up with solutions in these situations, so a real willingness to learn and a really good attitude will go a long way.

The right candidate will be flexible and maintain a can-do attitude. We’re a small company, and you might be asked to do things that are not exactly in your job description. You need to be OK with that—because we all do this. You are someone who will do whatever it takes to get something done—which means you should like people, enjoy solving problems, and possess a real passion for technology, storage and its related technologies.

Why it’s an exciting opportunity

At Reliant Technology, our mission is to empower people to make a difference. By setting ambitious goals and giving people the freedom to execute them, we create opportunities for learning, growth, exploration, success, and results. We’re looking for a go-getter who is ready for a huge opportunity. If you’re easily overwhelmed or frazzled, this is not the position for you. You must have the chops and the will to succeed. It will take a lot of work.

You’ll work from our “Google-esque” campus on the west side of Atlanta, near Howell Mill and Chattahoochee, in Alton Brown’s former production studio—but you won’t be restricted by location. You can wear what you want, and participate in a great culture with an open work environment. You’ll benefit from our 401K & match, and enjoy our fun days, gym, and Zen garden.

We offer a rewarding compensation plan. We’ll pay the best rates for the best person.
